18 (who?)
The dark daunting whispers of
spectral strangers
bounced off the whitewashed walls of my
And shook me from my resting-
ever-so replenishing!-
reviving reverie.
And stole my soul back into the world-
the rest of the lonely dreaming world-
of trouble; chore; of melancholy burden bore.

I paced the floor to and frow;
my heavy awkward steps
slightly out of sync.
My oafish unfacile feet-
my entire body!-
wanted and wished
to waltz
with the dancing shadows.
To twirl in adept unison
with the tinkling of footfalls
lightly treading upon the tufted floor.

However, my timing was as raw as my talent.
And as for my balance-
my lack-
Could not be ignored.
And so I weaved ‘round the black withering forms.
Profound finesse: a fake façade I wore
whilst my lower limbs quivered and quaked,
and to my knees-
I hit the floor.

And alas!
With faltering fiery flame;
altering ardor.
I accomplished poise
upon fluctuating knees:
on the blanched floor.
My will to rise again-
in my entire essence-
was not present-
airy perspective:

And so!
I simply stayed; situated.
Wondering, fearing-
and all the while
by the silent steel door
peering into the darkness:
My chestnut orbs bore.

Searching for advice;
seeking out the purity
of vintage literature
quill and ink could indite.
Verses to refer
to the vastly renowned King
of eternal Gothic lore.
For sagacious words of saintly yore,
And for enlightening guidance
I did implore.

And ho!
It neared!-
it gleamed!-
it loomed!-
to altitudes
the eye could see!
And to which elevation
decumbent cognizance
could collect!

In sudden misfortune
did my manifestation
my offspring-
my creation!-
Slowly… but steadily
it crumbled
to cinders-
vanished in
nightly departure!-
not a scintilla of remorse
left behind…

like how grains of the
molten-golden sand-
though merely remnants
of a greater being-
go about idly creeping through clasped fingers-
clenched hands-
and trickle like teary-eyed stalactite
down my cheeks
and into the deep…

As in the cavernous core
of the contemplative mind
lurks in the corners:
cobwebs of a memory
one tries to find.
And in reminiscence-
with such churlish swagger
it attempted run;
struggled to hide.

And in the void luminescence
of being confined-
for oh!
God knows
for how long the time!-
it tiptoed its way
out of the shelter
of its own kind.
Then bereft of an oppressive
parting goodbye-
skillfully slipping past
the approaching grasp!-
as fast as it’d come
it’d fled my mind
and as it breathed out
a sigh-
raspy adieu!-
-With ridged spine
Disheveled matted
Cerise fleece!-
It shrived

Leaving me;
the morrow-
and my dearest
most darling
of sorrows!-
more hollow-
more numb!-
than ever

I suffered from writer's block not too long ago and as I was trying to push through it, an idea came to mind. Inspired Idea Inspired Idea Inspired Idea  Theeeeen... I lost it. -.- Then came another idea! Writing about having an idea! Then losing the idea. ;D

I wanted to try to write in Mr. Edgar Allan Poe's style of writing and added some of the language and phrases that he used in some of his writings (The Raven, A Dream Within A Dream, The Bells, The Conqueror Worm, and Annabel Lee.) Anywaysssss... This is my tribute to Mr. Poe. Hope you like it. ^.^
